Dairy and Food Sector is the backbone of National Development in general and that of the state of Rajasthan in particular as this sector involve majority of the rural and urban masses. Dairy and Food Industry contributed towards the tremendous progress recorded by the agriculture sector in our country. The requirement of the processed food has increased tremendously for the society for domestic consumption as well as for export purpose, on account of the fast development in the food processing and packaging industry. In view of these, the Strategic Development Project of the Rajasthan Agriculture University accepted the suggestions of the college and consequently recommended the widening of the scope of the then Dairy Science College by converting it into Dairy and Food Science Technology (CDFST). 

The College has five departments namely: Department of Dairy and Food Chemistry, Department of Dairy and Food Engineering, Department of Dairy and Food Technology, Department of Dairy and Food Management and Economics and Department of Dairy and Food Microbiology. The college is well equipped with infrastructure facilities required for teaching, research and extension activities related to dairy and food sectors. The facilities of some departments of College of Technology and Agriculture Engineering, Rajasthan College of Agriculture and College of Home Science are also available to the students of this college as they receive instructions from teaching staff of these colleges for some courses offered to them. The College has competent faculty available for the core subjects and a few more positions are likely to be created soon with the assistance of the State Govt. particularly for strengthening Food Technology Component.

The students of our college are finding excellent placements in leading MNCs, cooperatives as well as nationalized banks in the country and Abroad. Some examples include Nestle India Pvt. Ltd., Perfetti Van Mella, Schreiber Dynamix Dairies Ltd., GSK Ltd., Cadbury India Pvt. Ltd., Britannia Industries Ltd., Pepsico India Pvt.
